Getting started
Do I really need a website for my small business?
Usually, yes. A website is the one place you control that customers, Google and AI assistants can all read: hours, services, prices, location and how to book. Social profiles help, but platforms change reach and rules without notice, and profiles are harder for search engines to quote. A focused site that answers common questions and puts the next step one tap away does the most work.
Is Instagram or Facebook enough, or do I still need a website?
Social pages are good for reach and updates, but they are rented space: the platform decides who sees your posts, and profiles give search engines and AI assistants little structured information to cite. A website gives you a stable address for hours, services, pricing and booking that you control. Most small businesses do best using social media to attract attention and the website to convert it.
What do I need to provide to get a website built?
Most designers need your business basics (services, hours, service area and contact details), a logo, photos, any copy you want to keep and a few sites you like. SunliftAI asks for a six-question intake that takes about 15 minutes, plus your logo, photos and existing copy; it handles the writing, design, build, on-page SEO and AI-ready structure from there.
What if I don't have a logo or professional photos?
You can still launch. Phone photos of your space, products and team taken in good daylight usually outperform stock images, because customers can tell they are real. Without a logo, a clean text wordmark of your business name works well until you invest in one. Tell SunliftAI what you have during intake and the design will be built around it.
The seven-day process
How long does it take to build a website for a small business?
Timelines depend mostly on how quickly content, photos and decisions come together and on how many revision rounds are built in. SunliftAI builds in seven business days once it has your intake answers, content, photos and first monthly payment, because one person handles strategy, design and build with no hand-offs. Having your content ready is the biggest factor in any provider's timeline.
Who writes the text for my website?
It depends on the provider; many charge extra for copywriting or expect you to supply it. At SunliftAI the copy is written as part of the build from your intake answers, using the way customers actually phrase their questions, and you review everything before launch. Good website copy answers real questions plainly, which helps visitors decide and helps search engines and AI tools understand you.
What if I don't like the design?
A good process catches this before launch. Share examples you like and dislike at the start, then review the real site on your phone before it goes live. SunliftAI shows you the working site on day six of the seven-day build and makes changes live rather than through long document rounds. Ask any provider how many revisions are included and when they happen.
How many pages does a small business website need?
Fewer than most people think. Many local businesses need a strong home page, one page per core service or menu, an about page, proof such as reviews or past work, and clear contact or booking. Add a page when it answers a distinct customer question, such as a service in a specific area. Ten useful pages beat thirty thin ones, for customers and for search engines.
Ownership and domains
Who owns my domain name?
You should. Register the domain in your own name with an account and email address you control, even if a developer manages the settings for you. If someone else registered it, ask them to transfer it to your account now, while the relationship is good. SunliftAI's policy is that your domain remains yours and can move with you at any time.
Can I edit the website myself?
With most builders you edit everything yourself. Managed plans work differently: on SunliftAI plans, routine content updates are included, so you send the change (new hours, a menu item, an event) and Sunlift makes it. You don't need to learn an editor or risk breaking the layout, and the site's structure for search and AI stays intact after every update.
Getting results
Can I see how many visitors my website gets?
You should be able to. Ask your provider to set up an analytics tool and Google Search Console and to confirm you will have access. SunliftAI connects analytics and Search Console during launch week as part of its seven-day method. Track calls, form submissions and bookings too, because visits alone don't show whether a website is working.
Why isn't my website getting leads?
Common causes: visitors can't tell what you do and where within a few seconds, the call or booking button is buried on mobile, pages load slowly, there is no proof such as reviews or examples, or the traffic isn't from people ready to buy. Check your site on a phone the way a stranger would. Each fix is usually small, like moving booking into thumb reach or adding prices.
